Tuesday, 13 January 2009
The number of new business start-ups in Ireland fell by more than one-fifth last year, according to figures published today by Bank of Ireland.
The bank says the decline was experienced in most parts of the country, but the north-east experienced the largest drop.
Only Offaly and Longford witnessed an increase in the number of new companies entering the market.
More than 40% of new businesses last year were based in Dublin.
