O'Leary seeks clarification of Aer Lingus forecasts
Friday, 19 December 2008
Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary has written an open letter to the chairman of Aer Lingus demanding the company issue clarifications on its profit forecasts.
The move is the latest salvo in Ryanair's attempt to take over the former national airline.
Mr O'Leary says shareholders, including Ryanair, have a right to know how much Aer Lingus will spend in trying to fend off the rival airline's merger bid.
Ryanair also wants to know what impact the axing of long-haul fuel surcharges will have on Aer Lingus' books, given the size of the revenue raised from the charges.
