Protests continue at Coca-Cola

Sunday, 30 August 2009

The Labour Relations Commission has said it wants to bring both sides in the Coca-Cola jobs dispute together for talks this week.

About 300 workers are manning pickets in Dublin, Cork, Tipperary, Waterford and Galway in protest at the company's decision to outsource 130 jobs.

SIPTU has said it welcomes the LRC's involvement, but will only return to the talks table if management at Coca-Cola agree to discuss new work terms and conditions.

It also wants the issues of redundancy and outsourcing addressed.

Peter Brennan has worked at the Ballycoolin distribution centre in Dublin for 31 years.
