Spending freeze holding up creation of 250 jobs
Friday, 3 July 2009
Údarás na Gaeltachta says the Government's freeze on spending in state agencies is preventing it from creating 250 new jobs.
The Gaeltacht development body says it has a number of projects in the pipeline which cannot proceed until it is allowed to release funding.
It says it is in talks with the Department of Community and Rural Affairs in the hope of getting the spending restrictions lifted.
The Government has already decided that the freeze should not apply to the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.
