Eight charged in connection with Turkish massacre
Wednesday, 6 May 2009
The Turkish authorities have charged eight people in connection with Monday's engagement party massacre in the south-east of the country.
Two others are also being questioned in connection with the attack, which is being blamed on a family feud.
No information has been provided about the suspects, but the authorities say some of them were related to the victims.
Forty-four people, including the betrothed couple and six children, were killed when gunmen opened fire on an engagement celebration in the village of Bilge.
Media reports in Turkey claim the attackers wanted the bride-to-be to marry someone from their own group of friends or relatives.
