The 26-year-old Ugly Betty star became engaged to her director boyfriend Ryan Piers Williams in June, but told People she hasn't had time to think about her big day.

America said: "If there is a scale between 0 and 10 [at planning], I'm at like negative 10. I haven't gone there and [am] not thinking about it. We got engaged and then left for Iraq the next day."

She added: "We both talk about it. It's so crazy because right now the only thing I'm sure of is that there will be a cake and music!"

America stars in Ryan's film The Dry Land, which he wrote and directed about war veterans affected by post-traumatic stress disorder, and they have been touring the world to show at festivals and special screenings since they announced their engagement.

She said the film "certainly is his baby, and I feel like I've been here to get to witness it. It's a little bit like he had the pregnancy and I'm holding his hand through Lamaze".

The couple met when Ryan cast America in his student film at USC.

She revealed: "We kind of connected from the get-go on that professional level and that was something that really drew us to each other, a shared passion for what we do and our work."
