Lavish blessing for Price and Reid

Katie Price and Alex Reid have held a blessing ceremony

Katie Price and Alex Reid have held a blessing ceremony

Katie Price and her cage fighter husband Alex Reid have had a lavish church blessing ceremony held under a veil of secrecy.

Guests were reportedly asked to sign confidentiality agreements and to hand in their mobile phones at the door as they attended the service to bless their low-key Las Vegas wedding.

The event at St Paul's Church, Woldingham, Surrey, was a much grander affair than the hasty shirt-and-jeans approach adopted for the original nuptials in February.

Family and guests arrived at the picturesque village church by Range Rover and a coach with the banner "Congratulations Katie and Alex" on the front.

But as they stepped into the church, they were shielded from waiting photographers with umbrellas and sheets. A replica A-Team black van, believed to be part of the wedding celebrations, was also parked outside the church.

A crowd of about 40 well-wishers had gathered outside the church hoping to get a glimpse of the bride.

Resident Elaine Benjamins, 54, said: "I think it's wonderful, why not? It's a big occasion for her, good luck to her, although I prefer the ex."

The ceremony may have taken place away from the eyes of the Press but it is set to feature in a three-part television series called Katie & Alex: For Better, For Worse, to be screened later this summer on ITV2.

Following the church blessing, the guests were taken back to Price's former marital home with Peter Andre in the village.

Scuffles broke out between photographers and bouncers as the A-Team van pulled up apparently bringing Price to the church. It is understood that guests were made to wait for up to two hours before she arrived.

The West is horrified by children's slaughter now. Soon we'll forget

Bashar al-Assad will get away with it. He got away with Deraa. He got away with Homs. And he'll get away with Houla. So will the armed opposition to the regime, along with al-Qa'ida and any other outfits joining in Syria's tragedy.

Why my kids feel Olympics are not the real thing now

I did quite well in my school exams, but the only thing for which I can confidently say I stood out like a beacon among my fellow pupils was my record-breaking 100-metres dash.

World must open its eyes and see Israel for what it is

Why pick on Israel when there's so much injustice in the rest of the world? The answer is to be found in the specific circumstances which gave rise to the launch of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign in July 2005.

PR machine is driving Sinn Fein power push

Sinn Fein's ard fheis opens in Killarney tomorrow. Like most conferences held by successful political parties, it is a well-managed set-piece. It is a PR event and it is aimed at the voters watching on TV.

Why bringing up our kids should be child's play... or maybe it's not

Nurse, the screens! Yup, top experts have issued new warnings about kiddies watching nothing but tellies and computers, while real life flits by unnoticed outside.
