The Ting Tings don't like being on the red carpet

The Ting Tings have admitted they will feel out of place at the Grammy Awards.

The duo, who are up for the Best New Artist gong, said they feel uncomfortable about being celebrities as well as musicians.

"I love performing on stage and always associate stage and the studio with performance and I can do that so fearlessly, but I can't get the idea of the red carpet as a performance," singer Katie White said.

She laughed: "I never know what to wear. I always end up looking like I'm going to a Christening."

Fellow band member Jules de Martino added: "Us, Hollywood, dressing up, how's this gonna work?"

The pair's nomination comes after their hit That's Not My Name saturated the US media despite only peaking at No 39 in the US charts, after being heard on TV shows like 90210 and Saturday Night Live and in other campaigns.

Katie revealed the song was written when the band felt invisible.

"At the time we when we wrote it, we'd been dropped by our record label, nobody would return the calls," she said. "You were so forgettable that nobody would remember your name."

And while they don't expect to win the Grammy, with tough competition from MGMT, the Zac Brown Band, Keri Hilson and the Silversun Pickups, Jules said he was thrilled by the nomination.

"I think we've won by being nominated," he said. "It's kind of humbling really."

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Why trying to go on a diet is never really a piece of cake

Some people make New Year’s resolutions, I make lists. Every new year I determine to keep track of everything I spend and everything I eat and drink.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
