Minister promises campaign to discourage cocaine use

Thursday, 28 June 2007

The Junior Minister with responsibility for drugs is promising to implement a hard-hitting campaign in secondary schools to discourage teenagers from taking cocaine.

Pat Carey was speaking at a conference in Dublin today on ways to tackle Ireland's cocaine use and reduce the harm associated with the drug.

Recent figures show that cocaine consumption is growing faster in Ireland than any other developed country.

Mr Carey says he wants all young people to get the message that the drug can be lethal.
