Boil notice lifted in Galway after five-month crisis
Monday, 20 August 2007
The water contamination crisis in Galway is finally over, with all households now able to consume tap water without fear of getting sick.
In March, around 90,000 households were told to boil all water for human consumption as the local supply had been contaminated with the cryptosporidium parasite.
A new ultra-violet treatment system has now been installed at the Terryland water works and the boil notice has been lifted today.
