Women urged to beware of lung cancer risks
Wednesday, 31 October 2007
Cancer campaigners are urging women to be particularly aware of the dangers posed by smoking.
Launching a new campaign to mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month today, the Irish Cancer Society said research had found that cigarettes pose a greater risk of lung cancer in women than in men.
Meanwhile, the society also says many people are unaware of the fact that lung cancer is a bigger killer of women than breast cancer.
Around 1,500 die from the disease in Ireland every year.
