'HSE not reporting investigations into nursing homes'
Saturday, 2 February 2008
It has been claimed that the HSE is investigating complaints about the treatment of patients in nursing homes, but is not making the concerns public.
The Irish Independent reports this morning that a number of serious incidents have been investigated, and in a number of cases complaints have been upheld.
The HSE does publish inspection reports on its website but neither the incidents nor the complaints are published.
The HSE said that it does investigate every complaint and if necessary, brings charges.
