At least six workers hurt in Belfast building collapse
Monday, 10 March 2008
At least six workers have been injured following the partial collapse of a building under construction in Belfast city centre today.
Concrete was being poured into an area of the second floor when the structure on Victoria Street gave way.
A number of workers are believed to have fallen around 30 feet to the ground below and some had to be pulled from amid steel girders, scaffolding and rubble.
There were fears that some people may have been trapped under the debris, but the latest information is that all workers have been accounted for.
Two Polish workers are believed to have been seriously hurt in the accident, but the extent of the other injuries is not known.
