Irish Water Safety urges people not to mix alcohol with water sports

Irish Water Safety is urging people not to mix drinking with water sports or activities this St Patrick's weekend.
Alcohol is a factor in one third of all drownings - and there is an average of 3 drownings every St. Patrick's weekend.
It is also calling on the public to take responsibility for themselves and take precautions when out on the seas, rivers or lakes.
Spokesman Roger Sweeney wants people to enjoy themselves, but says safety is paramount and says people should exercise some common sense
