An Post may face fines for failing to meet targets

An Post could be forced to pay hefty fines for failing to meet delivery targets under new rules announced by Communications Minister Eamon Ryan today.
Mr Ryan has given the Communications Regulator more powers over the postal sector today, including the right to seek financial sanctions through the courts if An Post fails to comply with one of its directions or delivery targets.
The minister says An Post is still falling significantly short of its 94% next-day delivery target and the new regulations will help to enhance the quality of the postal service.
