The robbery took place on Thursday afternoon at the Nutgrove Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham in Dublin.

Two men, one of whom was believed to be armed, held up security company staff as they were about to fill ATM's at Nutgrove Shopping Centre in Rathfarnham in Dublin.

The men escaped from the scene with a substantial quantity of cash and made their get-away in a gold coloured car which was later abandoned at Meadow Mount in Churchtown.

This morning Gardai investigating the incident searched three houses in the Dublin 8 area.

During the course of the searches two handguns and a stolen van were recovered.

They have been detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations and may be held for up to 72 hours.
