Protestors highlight waiting lists at Waterford Hospital

Monday, May 12, 2008

Protestors have gathered outside the gates of Waterford Regional Hospital today to express frustration at long waiting lists.

One of the protestors, the father of an 11-year-old girl, says his daughter has already been waiting a number of years to have her tonsils removed.

The young girl was presented to A&E at Waterford Regional Hospital last Monday with tonsillitis but was discharged on Wednesday following medical examination.

Her father says she is now very ill with a high temperature and a virus and should never have been discharged and put on a waiting list.
