Optimism at LRC talks on nursing dispute
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Talks between nurses unions and the HSE resumed today at the Labour Relations Commission, in a bid to resolve the row over compensation for nurses injured at work.
Psychiatric nurses have been refusing to work overtime which has led in the closure of a number of wards throughout the country.
Negotiations have been ongoing in recent days and the latest round of talks have focused on quantifying adequate compensation for nurses.
The Psychiatric Nurses Association says the negotiations must conclude by 12 noon tomorrow.
President of SIPTU Nursing Padraig Heverin has said he is confident a resolution can be found.
