Two held over suspicious death of Athlone woman

Friday, May 16, 2008

Gardai have arrested a man and a woman this morning in connection with the suspicious death of Lillian Scanlon in Athlone one week ago.

The pair were detained at separate addresses in the Willow Park area of the town at around 8am.

Ms Scanlon, who was in her 40s, was discovered dead in a rented house in Valley Court last Friday morning.

A post mortem was unable to establish the cause of death, but she had suffered a number of injuries to her body which Gardai say may or may not have contributed to the death.
