Man arrested following Garda operation in Dundalk

A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of a Garda operation in Dundalk.
Local Gardai backed up by members of the Emergency Response Unit stopped a van on the Western Bypass in the town.
A firearm was recovered and the driver was arrested.
The man has been brought to Dundalk Garda Station for questioning.
He is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours.
