European Commission facing legal challenge from Green MEP
Sunday, 18 May 2008
The European Commission is facing a legal challenge from anti-Lisbon Treaty campaigner Patricia McKenna.
The former Green MEP has claimed that the commission has been interfering in the Irish political process in order to secure a 'Yes' vote in the forthcoming referendum.
She has criticised the body for its funding of several events around the country at which the majority of speakers have been in favour of the Lisbon Treaty.
But the organisers of the campaign have said the events are part of a wider, year-long series of information seminars.
