Age now main ground for workplace discrimination cases
Monday, 19 May 2008
Age has emerged as the main grounds for cases being taken in relation to alleged workplace discrimination.
The Equality Authority says 27% of all its case files under employment equality legislation relate to age discrimination.
The figure has been disclosed to mark the start of Say No to Ageism Week, which aims to tackle discrimination and the stereotyping of older people.
A public awareness campaign will be launched to highlight the impact of ageism.
