The victim a 32 year old man was shot in the arm as he sat in his car in Monasterevin
The man made his way to a nearby Garda station to report the incident.
He was taken to Naas hospital for treatment but was later moved to Tallaght hospital.
The man's injuries have been described as non life threatening.
