District Court Judge apologises for comments on Tyrone people

A District Court Judge has apologised for offensive comments he made in court last week.
Judge Sean McBride caused controversy after he described Tyrone people as 'typically thick', during a case at Monaghan District Court.
The case involved a student who had been wrongly summonsed because her name and date of birth were the same as a woman who was accused of a public-order offence.
In court today, Judge McBride said he regretted the outburst, and acknowledged it was totally inappropriate.
The judge said he never meant to offend the people of Tyrone and added he had nothing but regard for them.
