DAA to challenge restrictions on use of new runway
Friday, 4 July 2008
Dublin Airport Authority is to challenge conditions set by an Bord Pleanala restricting the use of its new runway.
An Bord Pleanala granted planning permission for the runway on the condition that it stuck to regulations on flight numbers between 11pm at night and 7am.
Under these condition, only 65 landings and take offs would be allowed on the runway during the specified hours.
But Siobhan Moore from the DAA said that that the airport currently caters for up to 72 flights between those times and the numbers are expected to rise by the time the runway opens in 2012.
She said the conditions would result in too many cut-backs to be practical.
