Teenager charged with murder of Down guesthouse owner

A teenager has appeared in court in the charged with killing a guesthouse owner during a break-in.

Nineteen-year-old James William McCoy is accused of murdering 68-year-old Billy Spence at the Tara Guesthouse in the seaside town of Bangor in Co Down.

Mr Spence was beaten and knifed to death last Monday night.

His body was discovered by his partner the following morning.

The teenager was remanded in custody to appear by video link at the same court next month.
