Brazilian man remanded in custody after being charged with Offaly murder

A 30-year-old Brazilian man has been remanded in custody after he appeared in court today charged with the murder of Joselita Da Silva in Tullamore, County Offaly.
The mother of three was found dead at an apartment in the town last Thursday.
Marcio Goncalves Da Silva, with an address at Tara Street, Tullamore, County Offaly, appeared before a special sitting of Tullamore District Court today.
In court Mr Da Silva's solicitor asked for legal aid for his client who is currently unemployed.
He also requested the defendant be placed on "suicide watch" and requested a psychiatric evaluation be carried out.
Mr Da Silva was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before Cloverhill District Court on November 2nd.
