GlaxoSmithKline to shed 100 jobs in Cork
Thursday, 21 February 2008
The multinational pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKline is to lay off 100 workers at its plant in Cork.
The Curabinny-based company says the redundancies are being introduced due to a drop in sales.
GlaxoSmithkline says the job cuts are necessary in order to protect the future of the Currabinny site.
It also says recently announced investment plans for Cork will still go ahead despite the lay-offs.
