New Taoiseach to attend Belfast investment conference

Thursday, May 08, 2008

Newly elected Taoiseach Brian Cowen is due to travel to Belfast today to attend a major conference aimed at attracting investment into the North.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is also due to attend the event at Stormont today.

Around 100 senior US business executives are taking part in the conference, which is aimed at promoting the benefits of investing in the North following the establishment of a stable power-sharing administration.

During his opening address yesterday, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness appealed to the US executives to join Northern Ireland on its "remarkable" journey from conflict to peace.
