BoI staff defer strike action after new proposals
Thursday, 3 July 2008
Staff at Bank of Ireland have deferred a 24-hour work stoppage they were planning to mount next Tuesday due to a row over share bonuses.
The Irish Bank Officials Association and the Unite trade union were planning to picket the bank's AGM in Dublin.
However, the demonstration has been deferred to allow the unions to ballot their members on new proposals from the bank.
Under the deal, staff would receive a lump sum payment equivalent to 3% of their annual salary in October.
