Irish stock market surges after US mortgage firm takeover

The Irish stock market has surged on the back of positive financial news from the US.

The American government has taken-over of two huge mortgage firms.

The companies - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - hold around half of all outstanding home loans in the US.

Irish shares are up 7% percent this morning.
