Ryanair extends deadline for Aer Lingus takeover bid
Tuesday, 6 January 2009
Ryanair has extended the deadline for acceptance of its recent takeover offer for Aer Lingus.
The airline mounted the €748m takeover bid late last year and is now giving shareholders until February 13th to accept the offer.
The Aer Lingus board has unanimously rejected the offer and has advised shareholders to do likewise.
It says the offer fundamentally undervalues the airline and is designed to undermine the company's future as an independent entity.
