Tax defaulters pay over twelve million euro to Revenue
Friday, 12 September 2008
New figures from the Revenue Commissioners show that the exchequer took in almost €12.25 million from tax defaulters for the three months to the end of June.
The latest tax defaulters list shows that there were 93 settlements made with the Revenue in that period - four of them for amounts of over half a million euro each.
Twenty two of the settlements arose from investigations into offshore funds and accounted for €3.12 million.
Fourteen settlements totalling €3.14 million related to single premium insurance products while a further ten cases totalling €1.48 million came from bogus non-resident account holders.
