Energy bills could rise again

Tuesday, 4 November 2008

Electricity and gas prices could be set to rise again.

Bord Gais and the ESB have applied to the Commission for Energy Regulation for price increases that would come into effect from January.

If given the go-ahead, domestic customers will see their ESB bills rise by almost 6%, while Bord Gais prices will rise 4%.

The proposals are open for consultation.

The Commission said it will publish its decision on December 1st.
