Huge rise in couples seeking fertility treatment
Thursday, 17 July 2008
The Well Woman Centre says it has experienced a huge rise in the number of couples attending fertility clinics for treatment.
The centre's latest annual report says the number of people attending such clinics has almost doubled in the last five years.
Most of the patients are in their mid 30s and in stable relationships.
The centre says its three Dublin-based facilities have also experienced a 60% rise in the number of screenings for the sexually transmitted infection chlamydia.
