Limerick nightclub in petrol bomb attack

Sunday, 5 October 2008

Two people have been arrested after a suspected petrol bomb attack on a nightclub in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.

A number of windows were smashed at 'Fireworks' nightclub in Newcastle West and what's believed to have been a petrol bomb was thrown into the club just before 4 o'clock.

A number of staff were present, but no one was injured and only limited damage was caused to the venue.

A youth and a man in his twenties were arrested shortly afterwards, they are being detained at Newcastle West Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
