Lisbon opponents stage protest at Swedish Embassy
Wednesday, 19 November 2008
Opponents of the Lisbon Treaty have staged a protest outside the Swedish Embassy in Dublin today.
The demonstration was arranged by the People's Movement following the Swedish parliament's ratification of the treaty today.
The People's Movement says the Irish Government should have told other EU countries that ratification is pointless as the treaty has been vetoed by Irish voters.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, no Swedish media has reported about this demonstration. It is rude, to put it nicely, of the Swedish government to ratify a treaty that has already been rejected. The Irish no should have killed the treaty, for other countries to continue the ratification process is outrageous.

Many thanks to the Irish people protesting! Since we in Sweden are denied our vote on this matter, the firm backbone of the Irish voters sends a glimmer of hope to the rest of us. Thank you!

Thank you Ireland for supporting us in Sweden. The majority of the people says no, to the Lisbon treaty, but the parliment will say yes.
Is Ireland the last real democracy in Europe?

Thank you Ireland for your support!
As we in Sweden are denied a public referendum,
and
as the politicians in Sweden refuses to listen to the peoples protests,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the people in Ireland which stands firm against the forming of a draconian superstate.
In protesting at the swedish embassy today you are supporting the cause of a free swedish society.
Please stand firm in your resistence as we all depend on you!
THANK YOU
