One-fifth of family carers suffer from depression

Almost one-in-five family carers in Ireland suffer from depression, according to the Irish College of Psychiatrists.
The organisation says 25% of carers have anxiety problems, while more than one-quarter suffer with back injury.
It also says 68% of carers who are diagnosed with depression feel that their condition has worsened because of their caring roles.
