Adams accuses DUP elements of opposing power-sharing

Friday, 10 October 2008

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has accused elements within the DUP of still being opposed to sharing power with Catholics.

In a hard-hitting speech last night, Mr Adams rejected unionist claims that republicans were to blame for the current impasse in the North

He said the DUP was refusing to work on the basis of partnership in the power-sharing Executive and some DUP representatives wanted to return to the era of unionist domination, even though the party leadership knew this was not sustainable.

However, he said Sinn Fein would stand firm on its demands for full equality.
