Environment Minister won't intervene in dog ban row

Monday, 9 July 2007

The Environment Minister has refused to get involved in a row over the banning of dangerous dogs in Dublin.

Eleven breeds of dog - including Pitbulls and German Shepherds - have been banned from Dublin City Council properties, causing anger among animal welfare groups.

The council now wants these dogs banned from other areas in the capital, including public parks.

The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has called on the Government to intervene to prevent this from happening.
