Minister announces €425 million for rural development
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
A government programme will provide over €425 million for the development of rural areas.
The amount, which was announced today by the Minister for Rural Affairs Eammoin O'Cuiv, is nearly three times higher than that given to the last rural development programme in 2000.
The programme will distribute the money to local action groups around the country.
It will be used for a number of developments, including the creation of new businesses, encouraging tourist activities and conserving rural heritage.
