SF calls for Robinson resignation over gay remarks
Monday, 9 June 2008
Sinn Fein is calling on DUP MP Irish Robinson to resign as chair of the Assembly health committee following remarks she made about homosexuals last week.
Mrs Robinson, the wife of First Minister Peter Robinson, described homosexuality as an abomination and said gay people could be turned into heterosexuals through counselling.
Sinn Fein's Martina Anderson has described the remarks as "outrageous" and says they call into question her suitability to chair the Assembly health committee.
The PSNI has already been asked to investigate the comments.
