General Secretary of the Labour Party to stand down

The General Secretary of the Labour Party is to stand down from his position in the autumn.
Mike Allen made the announcement to a meeting of the Labour Party National Executive Committee in Dublin this weekend.
Mr Allen has been General Secretary of the party since March 2000.
