Romanian men jailed for rape of Tipperary woman
Tuesday, 23 June 2009
Two Romanian men have received five-year jail sentences for sexually assaulting a woman in Tipperary last year.
Thirty-year-old Ionat Hoinaru, of no fixed abode, and 22-year-old Constantin Mariscariu, of The Avenue, Barnora, Cahir, Co Tipperary, pleaded guilty to sexual assault of the woman on March 16th, 2008.
The court heard they drove the 20-year-old woman to a rural farmhouse after she met them and another man at a disco.
She had consensual sex with their friend, after which the two men came into the bedroom, locked the door and sexually assaulted her.
Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy handed down the sentences today.
