Clarke heads Irish challenge at Adare Manor
Friday, May 16, 2008
Darren Clarke will lead the Irish charge heading into the weekend at the Irish Open at Adare Manor.
The Dungannon golfer carded a 69 today and is three under par, just three strokes behind halfway leader Michael Lorenzo-Vera.
The Frenchman is six under par following a second round 70.
In second, on five under, is the German Marcel Siem.
Next best of the Irish are Paul McGinley and Rory McIlroy - both on two under - following respective rounds of 69 and 72.
Defending champion Padraig Harrington is one under, Gary Murphy is level, while Peter Lawrie scrapes through to the weekend on two over.
Not so good for the likes of Damien McGrane, Graeme McDowell, amateur Pat Murray, Michael Hoey, Mark Staunton and Colm Moriarty who all miss the halfway cut.
