Maximum field to contest Galway Plate

Tuesday, 28 July 2009

A maximum field of 22 will go to post for tomorrow's William Hill Galway Plate - the richest race of the Ballybrit Festival week.

The Tony Martin-trained Royal County Star, to be ridden by Davy Russell, will carry top weight.

Rory de Cimbre, trained by Paul Nicholls and the mount of Ruby Walsh, is the only British challenger.

Last year's runner up, Oodachee, is also in the field, while owner JP McManus looks determined to win the race again as he will have four runners, including Cool Running.
