Seven Irish horses in field for Epsom Derby

Thursday, 5 June 2008

Seven Irish-trained horses are among a 17-strong field declared for Saturday's English Derby at Epsom.

There were no surprises at the final declaration stage today.

Aiden O'Brien is sending over five horses, all of whom are at bigger prices in the betting that the other Irish pair - the unbeaten Casual Conquest, trained by Dermot Weld, and New Approach, the Jim Bolger-trained runner-up in both the Irish and English 2,000 Guineas.

Neither Weld nor Bolger have ever won the big race.

The ground at Epsom is currently described as good to soft, with more rain forecast before Saturday's showpiece.

Some people make New Year’s resolutions, I make lists. Every new year I determine to keep track of everything I spend and everything I eat and drink.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
