Phelps banned for three months by USA Swimming
Friday, 6 February 2009
US swimming sensation Michael Phelps has been suspended for three months by his national association following the publication of a photograph apparently showing him using illegal drugs.
The 23-year-old won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics last year.
He recently issued a public apology after the News of the World published a photo of him inhaling from a glass pipe usually used to smoke cannabis.
He has received backing from the International Olympic Committee and FINA, but USA Swimming has decided to suspend him for three months and withdraw its financial support.
The ban will expire two months before trials begin for this August's World Championship in Rome.

Boycott Kellogs untill they come to their senses. Pot has shown absolute protective qualities against alzheimers even for those that only smoked when young. I would also urge Obama to legalize pot and sell government grown pot in liquor stores which would get us out of debt in the USA in short order.
