Springboks to be charged with misconduct over armbands
Monday, 6 July 2009
The South African Rugby Union is to be charged with misconduct by the International Rugby Board, it was confirmed this afternoon.
It's after Springboks players wore armbands in support of banned forward Bakkies Botha in the final Test against the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Botha was banned for two weeks for a second-half charge on Adam Jones in the second test in Pretoria that left the Welsh prop needing corrective surgery to a dislocated shoulder.
Coaching staff for both the Springboks and the Lions have indicated they saw nothing untoward in the second-rower's action.
