Dundalk join Shels at top of First Division
Friday, 4 July 2008
Dundalk have joined Shelbourne at the top of the Eircom League First Division after beating Athlone Town 1-0 last night.
The result leaves the Co Louth side tied on points with the Dubliners, who have a superior goal difference and a game in hand.
Shels, however, can reopen their lead tonight when they face third-placed Waterford United, while a victory for Waterford would see them jump into top spot.
Elsewhere, Cork City can narrow the gap on second-placed St Pat's in the Premier Division this evening when they face Galway at Turner's Cross.
Defending champions Drogheda are also up against UCD, while Cobh Ramblers face Shamrock Rovers.
The scheduled game between Bohemians and Bray Wanderers has been called off.
